Please help diagnose my sick oscar ASAP

Hi all
Ive been away for a few days + had someone coming in feeding the fish for me which has been fine but when i got back this evening i noticed something horribly wrong with my 7" oscar

There are about 5 white sort of cotton looking spots acrss his forehead although 2 of them look like the start of cotton growths
Theres another larger one behind his left eye which just looks cotton like but is not growing out if you know what i mean + theres another just under his left gill

Anus looks very swollen + white

Before i went away he looked abit lethargic + lazy but that did not worry me as i know they do this from time to time + has done it before
He is fairly slow in movement + lazy but still feeds well + shoots across the tank for the food which id like to think is a good sign

This has come on all of a sudden + i dont want him to get any worse

Im very particular on changes etc
Even though its still not got i hope its just a fungal infection which is treatable instead of something worse like HITH etc

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Sounds like some sort or fungus. If possible get some pics up, so we can tell you what it is for sure.
 
Test the water for ammonia/nitrate - immediate 50% water change, add salt 1 tbsp per 5 gal., raise temp to 85 to speed up bacterial metabolism, post a picture of your sick fish for proper diagnosis - could be ich, cottonwool, fungus, or something else. If not Ich you might need meds.
 
It sounds like a fungal growth that is originating in the sensory pits of his head... could be HITH. This happened to one of my BPs when he underwent a lot of stress by constanting fighting and losing to another male BP. Very bizarre.

It's probably due to stress. Otherone's advice is excellent (water changes, salt, temperature increase, etc.) Lots and lots of fresh water will help. If he's stressed, find out what's bothering him and remove the stressor. Keep feedings light to keep water quality as good as possible.

Hopefully he'll start to heal immediately which is what happened to my BP when I put him in his own tank.
 
I know this forum is a little old but my Oscar fish Davy is having some of the same issues of white cotton like tufts on his eyes and spots on his body. I have done almost everything from 50% water changes, to treating him with general cure, to adding melaflix and pimafix, to adding another heater to try to kill the parasite or fungus; whatever it is. I have seen something green like a worm coming from the hole at the bottom of him so that's why I say it is a parasite. I have also vacuumed his tank multiple times to ensure his water isn't super dirty. I keep hearing about ammonia testing. I use the sachem prime to treat the tap water before I put it in his tank and I use aquarium salt. He is I'm a 50/55 gallon tank alone. He is an Oscar fish. HELPPPPP!!! I have been battling with this foremost 3 weeks now and within these last two weeks he hasn't been eating.

Repost in the disease section. With water parameters. Tank info including filtration. Meds already used and that should help.
