I give up on society

The future is still very much an unknown, we are the only "advanced" civilization that we are aware of, so we have nothing to compare ourselves to as we become more technologically advanced. Several thousand years ago, the somewhat near future (think next 25-100 years) would not have been nearly as different as the past as it would be today, and while I find the concept of a "technological singularity" to be unlikely to happen, it is still something that I fear.

The difference though has been proven to be insignificant in the grand scheme of things. A difference in 150ppm of carbon dioxide because of man looks big on a graph, but in reality the actual impact on the earth is not even noticeable.

With that said, I'll simply say there are obviously differing opinions on climate change and its impact on things, and that's okay, we don't all have to agree on things like that we can have varying opinions on that. And it's not really something we can discuss in detail here though because it would obviously bring in too much political slant which is prohibited on this site for good reason, so I'll just leave it as there's different views on climate change and its impact.
The numbers that you are giving here and the belief that the changes have been "insignificant" are drawn by whom? Which scientists and the scientific study backed by who?

Opinions are often colored by our political affiliations and science data can be manipulated to align with our political affiliations. But, when a majority of the scientists all over the world are saying the same thing than to choose not to believe is to blind yourself to the truth so one can stand blindly behind our politics, A form of self-imposed ignorance.

Documentaries I have watched and articles I have read, sorry I don't keep track of the author or film makers names.

Like I said different opinions, nothing wrong with that. Makes the world go round. What I think is my opinion, and your's is yours. I don't ever say my opinion is "truth" and when someone claims their opinion is truth, that's when I disregard what they say. There's just as much evidence to support what you are saying as there is to support what I am saying, so that's why it is opinion based. Nothing you or I will ever sort out here on a fish related site ;)

Back to the technology stuff that was talked about such as smartphones... A big part of the problem with technology as I see it, is people abuse it and can't handle the freedom of it and it has a reverse effect than is actually intended. Texting was intended to connect people, yet because it is abused, it is actually separating people. I'll give you a prime case in point. My family came over just this past Saturday and I was downstairs working on rod orders. So I went up to say hi to my Niece & Nephew while they were here. I go upstairs and sit down and they are both starring down blankly at their phones texting away. I sat there for 5 mins and neither one of them every looked up other than saying a quick "hey" then it was back to texting. So after 5 mins of that I figured, alright screw it I'll go back down to the shop and work again, why sit here and be ignored.

And that happens with families all over the place day in and day out. This generation does not realize that they are missing out on spending time with their real families just so they can spend time in this make believe world talking to people in cyber space.

On one hand it drives me crazy and I hate that they are like that, and it makes me upset with them because it is rude and disrespectful, and it makes me mad with my Sister because as their Mom she should have taught them better than to do that. Then on the other hand, I truly feel sorry for them, because family will not be around for ever. The day will come when they can't come over to visit me because I won't be here any longer. And by the time they realize they wasted the time they could have enjoyed with family, it will be too late to do anything about it.
It took me a awhile to switch to a smart phone...to me it is better but I still control it, I don't let it control me. I do 97% of my internet on my computer...not phone.

My 9 year old daughter is real shy, she would talk to her friends all the time but would clam up to her grandparents...I keep telling her she will regret it later in life. They are in their late 70's and won't be around forever.

That's the key there bud. If people were like you, and used it for what it was intended then things would be much better. Problem is most people seem they can not handle it and let it consume them sadly.

Kids can be that way. I remember myself as a kid in the 70's & 80's I hated going to my grandparents house, but I did it. Now looking back years later, I really treasure those memories. What seemed like a chore at the time was actually something I wish I could do just one more time again.

No, there is not just as much evidence on your side, far from it- but, keep telling yourself that- because this is all you have to stand on. Stories ( and documentaries an articles we cant identify), when repeated long enough, become truth. Our brains become tricked into believing that, even when given the starkest evidence to disprove the "stories we tell," we would rather hold on to the story then see the truth. Our refusal is often politically and/or religiously inspired.
My opinion is based on scientific documentation of a majority of scientists across the globe. Your is based on anti-intellectualism. A refusal to believe in the merits and validity of science.
This is not one of those "to each his/her own" arguments- its a fact.

What about that NASA email that stated they fudge numbers to make it look worse? What about them placing sensors at airports or next to air conditioner units? What about those scientists getting funded by saying it's global warming(biased anyone)? What about those people profiting off of pushing it?(follow the money trail)? Global means everywhere...why is it been a record low in my area for the past 6-7 years?

Why did they change it from global warming to climate change? Because they kept getting caught in lies but still try to push it getting warmer.

Conspiracy theories anyone?
The stories we tell...

I agree, the whole thing is a conspiracy, a rise of 1 degree and the whole world melts. It was 41 this morning and reached 77. That's more then 1 degree and we didn't melt.

Back in the 80's I used to see scorpions, Tarantulas, Armadillos and tumbleweeds. Those are all gone now. Haven't seen them in over 20 years. If it was truely getting hotter...I'd be seeing more. Last summer I saw green fields and grass everywhere. Long time ago everything was yellow and brown from the heat.
