Sorry if you saw this uesyester accidentally posted under my fire eel question.

I picked up this fish(8 inches) 5 days ago and at first it was skittish but settled in quickly. I tried feeding it frozen bloodworms, frozen krill and live crickets but no dice.

Tomorrow I'll try shrimp.

Are they finicky eaters? I can understand if it's still stressed since it went from a 125 to a 37 QT tank.

He seems to be doing fine, from video. Swimming around is a good sign.

Check water parameters regularly and do water changes to maintain water quality. Once he moves out of QT, things would be better .
For the most part it swims around. But I do see it sitting on the bottom occasionally. Once I walk in it will start swimming again. Is that normal?

I think its normal and nothing to worry about.

The sooner you move him out of the QT, I think the better. The conditions in QT may not be ideal, it would be small and cramped, tank may not be completely cycled and may have medications. So it will open up more and start eating once he move to his actual tank and get used to there.

Today I found out that my heater broke. Temp was 68. Bought a new one and now it's 76. I tried shrimp today but it was ignored. I'll try again tomorrow.

Do you think I should move it by next week or sooner? Only concern was the lack of eating so far. But you are right my tank is cramped.

Quick question to anyone reading this. Finally got the arowana to eat a frozen piece of shrimp directly from the freezer. But the next piece I thawed in tank water and it sank. It ignored it.

Is it ok to drop food directly in without thawing it?

Personally I never put anything frozen in my tank as if the arowana was to swallow it still frozen it could change the fish’s body temp real quick witch can mess up the swim bladder leading to lose of fish get it back in a bigger tank but try meal worms to stop him from not eating should work a treat my super red violet fusion wouldn’t eat for ages wen I first got him now he eats everything lol
