Pictus cats never stop moving. some fish are fine with them and other fish seem to be bothered by the constant jerky swimming that they do. Try it and if the GT doesn’t kill it than you should be good until the GT is big enough to eat it.

Alright I’ll try them but how big of a group should they be in?

I don’t have a water tester kit available at the moment but I don’t test any of my other tanks and I never have really done it. The GT has a cave and plants in the tank as well along with a younger Severum that’s temporarily in there and a school of 5 giant danios. Next time I go to the LFS I’ll pick up a kit if it’s not too expensive but do you really think it’s nessarssary to test every few days when I’m steadily doing water changes? Also when I remove the severum how well would a GT get along with picture cats?
I think its necessary enough to warrant getting a test kit, especially when setting up a new system. I'm not trying to be a know-it-all, but in reality you have no idea how much bacteria there is built up on your filter pad. I would assume its enough, and so far it has proven to be enough because the fish isn't dead.

Everyone has their own way of doing things, and some are definitely more diligent on testing than others. I don't test enough either. I should though. But all my tanks are well established for at least a year plus, and there is both media in the filters as well as sponges inside tank. And I am diligent on doing big water changes weekly if not bi-weekly.

I keep sponges in every tank so that when i set-up a fry tank or quarantine tank I can just grab a seeded sponge and go for it, but even then I have no idea how much bacteria is in the sponge and how much bio-load it can handle, only way to know is to test parameters for a bit after set-up until you're confident.

At least there is good news for the GT, sadly my wild caught fire mouth is looking like he’s going to kick the bucket soon ;( (see the other thread titled very interesting topic for the pic of that but I warn you it may disturb you). But as far as the GT goes he seems to really enjoy his tank and is fully eating now. Here’s a pic
