I recently purchased a 24"+ Jardini. It's currently in a 200 gallon, but im currently organising a custom 340 gallon display tank.

It was housed in a community tank prior to me purchasing it. However, it killed my 10" pbass and i was hoping to keep it with pbass and stingrays for when the new display tank was ready. At the moment its by itself and im worried if I leave him alone any longer it will be to hard to introduce new fish. What would be the best tank mates to keep him with leading up to the new tabk and for when i get my rays???

Big Jardini can be extremely aggressive in my experience.....fine one day and a murderer the next. I have seen them work in crowded tanks where no fish can establish territories. i have always marvelled at these crazy tanks with tens of thousands worth of fish in. Over all not sure they can be trusted with others....

Thanks for your response. I was thinking maybe of getting a few other fish like maybe severums and schooling fish like silver dollars, take out the drift wood and have it completely bare. That way nothing can establish territory and will help even out the jardini's aggression... do you think this could work?

I really could not say. 24" is a really big powerful Jardini....rare to see one so big in the hobby. Your tank is bigger than anything I have tried. I would keep that bad boy in the 200 gallon and let him rule it alone. Others may have more experience

Yeah he's a big thick mean looking brute, but he has really nice colour and spots and would love to have him displayed with other nice fish. I wont have the room for 2 tanks, once my new display tank is ready i will sell my 200 gallon.

Roll the dice I guess. Get some dinner plate sized SD and see what happens. Large bottom dwellers might do better. Maybe a 24" Poly or larger cat.
