My brother had a Goliath bird eater. He was leaving the state and couldn’t take her with him.
He had already asked me a few weeks before and I’m not a spider person. Plus my husband said absolutely not.

Well, I went to help him move and guess who still didn’t have a home yet. Yep. His spider.
So getting ready to leave and we(mom and sister) ask what he’s going to do with her. He said he’d just have to leave her behind. Ugh.

Guess who took the spider home.... yep. Me!
My husband was pissed. And I can’t say I blamed him. I did do Exactly what he said not to do. But I couldn’t let her die:( And he did forgive me because he has a big heart and didn’t want her to die either.
I promised to find her a home fast and I made good on that. In about a week she want off to a science teacher to be a class pet and part of his personal collection.

This is the only picture I could find of her.
It’s really hazy because she was in a plastic tote that I was afraid to open. I did give her water and fed her a few grasshoppers during her week with me.

That's a great thing you did.
Tarantulas are quite the awesome quirky beings.

Only nice in the sense that I kept her alive. She was in a container that was just a little bigger then her for that week she was at my house. I felt bad, but I was too scared to open the lid any more then I needed too. I read that their hairs could cause breathing problems if inhaled. So that had me worried.
I do agree they are cool. I don’t dislike spiders, but I’d rather not keep any purposely as pets. Lol

Yes utricating hair can be a real problem if inhaled or get caught in the eye.

Always keep your face away from tarantulas, don't spook them, and if you're known to be allergic to bee stings, then don't take chance with tarantulas.

Well it's been months and many moults

Gonna give updates on the hairy and leggy creatures

The golden knee (grammostola pulchripes)has moulted a few days ago and has grown quite big now, almost 5"+. This one must be a female as if it were a male it wouldn't be this big this soon.

The rust leg (brachypelma boehmei) has grown many fold since November, from a colourless pale 2nd instar to this, love this one.

This pic is from NovIMG_20181111_112630.jpg

And now

The green bottle blue has grown quite well, and getting more coloured.

The grammostola pulchra is a bit sick, waiting for him to moult, will update soon.
