Picked up a couple nice pieces of black walnut today and two olivewood live edge slabs. Will be making a coffee table with the long piece. The two shorter pieces will be joined with an epoxy river for a kitchen table and the two olivewood pieces will be the bench seating for the table. I’ll continuously update pics as I go. Starting off later this week with the sanding and bark removal on the kitchen table piece. Will likely use cyanoacrylate for the coffee table piece to secure the bark as I enjoy the look. Ordering 3 gallons of epoxy later this week.

Very cool project.
I’ve wanted to try epoxy ever since I started seeing all the projects on Pinterest.
I can’t wait to see how it turns out.

Lovely lovely! How do you plan on working and finishing the wood?
Photos will be appreciated :D

It's to bad he was banned. We will never know. Ive been looking for wood to do this very thing but having no luck around here.
I don't know if it's sarcasm there, but several people have "banned" as their profile despite being alive and well on here.

After the last few days it's hard to know who's banned or isn't and it's even harder telling the skull crew apart.
It should be banned to pretend you are banned and if you don't stop pretending to be banned you should get banned.

Honestly I agree. If the name is crossed out they are actually banned

That's gonna be nice. I love live edge furniture, really fits my taste/style.
One of my favourite looks. Brings the cottage/northern Ontario feel. Will be doing the kitchen counter with a 12’ slab in the future.

Start by sanding to 220 grit. Remove bark from the sides that will be joined, sand away any leftovers. Keep a few pieces of the bark to float inside the epoxy river. Create a Mold for the epoxy then pour roughly 2 gallons in steps into the void. From there sand off the residual bringing the epoxy to a 2-3000 grit wet sand finish. Polyurethane finish for the wood. I Ike piano type finishes so 5+ coats for the top. Epoxy will be dyed blue.
