I have this young oscar who is only a few months old in a 125g but I'm having some issues with an eye that has gone cloudy.

Parameters are fine, tank is cycled and there's no aggression.

That being said this guy has been prone to hurting himself with the decor an even the top of the tank as hes a very aggressive eater. I think he might have scraped his eye at some point.

I removed almost all the decorations and bug ave been treating with melafix for the last 4 days but I have yet to see any improvement on that eye. It doesn't look like he can see out of it.

Is this cloudy eye? How long should I expect to continue the treatment?

I'm just wondering if it's just permanently injured like that.

Kind of looks like scarring from an injury. Can’t tell if the eye is popping out. Keep the water clean and can add a little slat 1 tsp per g.

That's what I was afraid of. I guess I'll finish the melafix treatment, add a little salt and hope for the best.

Now that you mention the eye popping out I think you might be right. I had been debating myself on that but I was not completely sure.

Would that also be related to the injury?

Thank you all!

If the eye is infected and even with trauma. It’ll protrude out.

Oscar's eyes normally look kinda popped out to begin with. Face the Oscar head on, and see if one eye is much bigger than the other.

Had my snakeskin gourami hit something and had a cloudy, bleeding eye. Cleared itself up soon enough, hope yours does too!

So today would will be a week 1 of using melafix, and I have not seen any progress at all. I'm starting to think this might be a permanent injury :(

I added some salt as well to help with the slime coat and repair, well see how that works.

I might have to keep doing melafix for a little longer and keep up with the water changes to see what happens.

Today I woke up to him looking like this (see pic)

I have no idea what the hell hes doing at night as I have not seen him jump while feeding him and I have removed most of the decorations aside from a few low laying rocks and driftwood in the tank.

I have no idea what else I can do to help him.
