I got a BD ray 2 days ago and she seemed healthy except from a scratch under her disc but now she is covered in weird patches and the disc either side of her tail is slightly flared up! Not sure what death curl even is so I’m hoping this isn’t it but what do I do with her? Here’s some pics please help!

Skinny, running spots to a large degree etc... we need more info in the tank setup etc... what are the readings from a test kit? Are you treating with any meds? If so, what for and why? What size tank, any tankmates?

Shipping alone can cause stress and spots to run. Uber clean water usually fixes it within 4-6 weeks. If it is not eating, too far gone to pull back, or continuously in poor quality water perimeters, it may not pull through. Clean water, clean water, clean water and then more clean water. Let us know on the other questions so we can help you narrow in on the solution.

I agree with JK47 JK47 s post. Does the head look sunken in between the eyes?

What does that mean if the head is sunk between the eyes? Is that just a side effect of malnourishment from being starved in transit? Or does that give evidence of a disease?

What i have learned in the short time i have kept rays wich is about a year and a half is that a rat with sunken in head is on really thin ice and depending on how bad its sunken in its hard to make it. Its an effect on both malnourishment and stress for a long time.

I got two raypups from a guy who couldnt take care of his pups due to some personal health issues. Both had sunken head. One made it and one did not. They both ate and all at the time but the female passed anyway even with pristine water with 0 ammonia 0 nitrite and 0.5 nitrate in my tank.

Thank you for sharing this. Just learning myself. Sounds like death curl, once it is in late stages it is hard to recover.

Yeah my first motoropup stopped eating for some weeks. Its head started to sink in. Not much but you could still see like a small bowl between its eyes. I treated it with all possible medications i could use. Nothing helped. Then suddenly one day it started to eat again after about 1.5 months. Dont know what happend at all but it pulled through and is growing good now at a friends place.
