Chicago police Superintendent Eddie Johnson said Friday detectives are "making gains" in their investigation of a report that "Empire" actor Jussie Smollett was attacked by two men who yelled slurs and put a noose around his neck in Streeterville early this week.

"We are making gains in the investigation and hopefully we’ll bring it to a successful resolution soon," Johnson told reporters at the Shakespeare District police station on the Northwest Side.

"Johnson was asked if he believes Smollett has been "factual and consistent."

“The facts as he knows them, yea, yea," Johnson responded. "Like I said, he’s been very cooperative. You know, our job is to investigate the allegations and bring the individuals in, and that’s what we’re working towards. Today we have no reason to believe he’s not being genuine with us.

"He is a victim and we treat him like a victim," the superintendent added. "He’s been very cooperative."

I came across one article in which it was mentioned that the temperatures were close to single digits on the night of the attack.The article went on to point out that bleach freezes at a temperature of nineteen degrees and frozen bleach does not pour out of a container.
