I can't seem to remember the first part of the scientific name but the last part is eques I believe.

One definitely seems to have survived a horrific injury in the past

I think the adipose fin is too short for it to be Goeldiella. Chrysichthys ornatus might be a match.

Look to me like two different fish and yes would go with Chrysichthys as one

Yes, the first is Chrysichthys ornatus.

The second looks indeed mutilated. Perhaps a species of a dwarf giraffe catfish.

No idea they are not mine, just saw them at a local fish store and was curious
