Hello Dat Peepz! Some NGT have white and the minority have black tail fins. In the wild they are pulled out and with black tails. Anybody know why? My previous 4 NGT I’ve had in the past we’re all white. Lots of pictures below from the Internet to show Ya’all! If anyone knows why. That’ll be awesome! My new one w/black tail fins is the first photo. Thxs

Uh oh.....they could be collected on two different islands.Sound familiar?

The two islands debate is so funny. I get it how they can differ on indos. But.... indos are also caught through out SE Asia.

As for the NGT K krichardson My question is more if they change through time. Such as white to black or fade black to white. Lol. Serious questions for NGT owners with knowledge if this occurs. Or simply a combination of environmental, dietary, genetic trait, or all of the above. I’ve only had NGT when they were smaller at 3”-6” 3x and grew one to 10.5”. All white tails.

I've had a few campbelli over the years and I have never took note of any varying fin colors,to be honest. My areas of attention were the range of colors(I've had some that were almost orange)and getting them off of live foods. They are extremely stubborn in my experience.

K krichardson it’s hella quiet in the Datnoid subforum. Just recently started posting after grabbing my large ngt. Even though I’ve always had datnoids. Of course, contributed photos to a silent crowd with the Wild Collecting Dat post on occasion. So, use to being in the active polypterus page, lol...,

Same here regarding black or white fins. Focus was always elsewhere for ngt as u mentioned.

But admit it. Next time u see an NGT. Of course, You’re going to first notice the colors, then to see if it’s wearing a Black Cape ! :) LOL
I've actually been tempted to buy back one that a fellow member has lol.
