More experienced = guess that rules me out. Lol
All I have is an opinion, which can be taken with a grain of salt in the fh department.
So here it is: if you like the fish, and it’s somewhat healthy, for a half decent price. Awesome go for it. Unless you are competing in a competition or show, it’s not necessary to have show quality fish that mostly only you get to see and engage with on a daily basis.
I have a trio of heart parrots that I’m sure if I posted them on here people would blast me for having them and calling animal cruelty officers on me because their tails were clipped as babies. But the reality is, they were rescues that I picked up for less than half I would have paid in a store for regular parrots. I love them, they are ravenous pigs that out compete my pbass for food and they add tons of life to my tank. Super happy with them and no one really cares. Lol.
I also have a red dragon plukat (betta) that has won first prize in a national betta show before I owned it. I had her mate as well but he died shortly after I acquired them. She is beautiful and (owns) a 5g tank mostly to herself. Cruises around the tank and is super responsive to when people are around. She lives like a queen, almond leaves, Moss, bog wood, a variety of 6 different pellets, steady supply of cherry shrimp fry, and frozen blood worms as a treat. And even the most interested betta owners look at her and are like “meh”.
So what I’m saying is, if you like it and like the price go all in bro. If you take good care of it and are able to accommodate their intricacies of sensitive digestive systems and the such, you could possibly extend these fishes lives to live happily for maybe a few years more than the average bloke.
