Dovii wolf cichlid male or female???

Still could be, a lot of they guys say you can’t tell for sure for awhile but it’s a dead give away if it shows those male traits I listed above.

Male 100% - has spots in all it's fins, gill plate and starting to spot above the horizontal line throgh the body.

Looks a little washed out in the pics. What colour substrate do you have?

Maybe add some dark pieces of driftwood/rocks to bring out his colour a bit more. Also looks like he's starting to develop that forehead hump which is also a male trait.

No, dovii can look male or female right up past 7-8" ime, spotting in in paired fins is the only traits that only the males exhibit, easily visible at 3-4 inch.

Mine got spotting on pair fins but they are blue spots not black is that what ur talking about?

Hi all I thought I'd do an update on my dovii it's been 6 months now. It was apparently 2 months old when It. its between 16cm-18cms and it's extremely aggressive with very nice colours pictures don't do it justice. Im guessing it's a boy by the dots covering it's body.

How long did it take to start getting the dots all over body because mine is about 5 inches,looks like a male but no dots like urs yet
