What would be your dream size tank?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I saw this tank in the photo gallery of the old defunct Tenecor website. I love everything about this tank. I love how it's framed in the wall. I looked as these pictures for quite a few years and tried to duplicate the look when framing in my much smaller tank which is less than half the size of this tank.

Tanks that big are a challenge to stock and scape for sure. Those fish look lost like in a cavernous room. Everything is wide open and disjointed. It takes hardcore planning to make something that big really work. Other than it being "big" it doesn't do a whole lot. Just my opinion.

I get the concept though. Wonder if wall installs are higher maintenance. Plus what happens if you move?

Im in the planningstage of my dreamtank 480x240x120cm plywoodtank roughly 13000L filled with around 11000L of water for my rays and cichlas.

To each his or her own, I guess.

As far as moving tanks, this 4,000 gallon in-wall tank was installed in the garage. Later, it became csx4236's show tank, and then bigrich545 purchased it. He has it at his fish rescue facility in Ohio.

For large tanks that won't fit through standard door openings, garage doors, sliding doors or French doors are ideal if you plan on moving them. Other large tanks are built on site. Our tank and stand were moved in before the outside walls were finished and before the inside walls were done. Our tank will never leave. Does it increase the market value of our house? Absolutely not. If anything, it decreases it. Our big addition to house our tank was done because the fish needed it.

Me too!! Today is the big pond reveal. Greg Wittstock the Pond Guy and others converted the pool into a pond. If you have been following on FB, yesterday, BigRich just completed his second trip to LA to pick up some fabulous donations from Vincent Wu. They are releasing fish into the 58,000 gallon pond today. I keep checking FB to see the big reveal.

If you haven't followed the big pond conversion, here is one of the videos.

Yeah I'm not ripping it, I think it's great. They just didn't maximize the potential...that thing could be a literal lake scape.

Yeah that's a comittment to a forever home! Wonder what overall costs and water usage are. My local jurisdiction would be sending me notification on water usage asap (Miss so and so, wtf is this??)...and the weight of that sucker must be monstrous. 20 tons?

Good thing is you could go buck wild with stock. Water changes every 6 months, lol. And you could play with your fish by swimming with them.

Wonder how thick the walls of that tank are? I'd think 2 inches or 3?
