In my quest to acquire real quality and pure Carpinitis Cichlids, I finally went the Jeff Rapps route. I wanted just one. He sent me two, because he "hated to send just one". What a great vendor!
I wanted just one because I worried about aggression in my 75 gallon, but these two get along great! Am I wrong? Did I luck out with a male and female? Not great pic, but the bigger one has a steeper forehead hence a male?
Thanks for any comments.

Nice! Great looking little cichlids. Jexnell Jexnell is right, look for a dark blotch in the dorsal fin to tell a female. If you have a pair they will need the whole tank to themselves, though the same would be true of a lone male. If yit doesn't work out you can always sell one when they grow out a bit.

The carpintis are nice, on my list for a future fish to keep...

Jeff's also a nice guy, great to deal with. Will be a loss to the hobby unless someone buys the business and keeps it to the same standard, which is apparently a possibility.

Wish him well in everything moving forward...
