China fish market

It’s amazing! Does anyone know which city in China the video is covering?

I’ve been to similar fish markets in Hongkong and Thailand where dozens of stores congregated in one place. Stores there are often specialized in selling just one or few types of fish, plants, or dry goods. It’s a convenient one stop shopping place where one can pick up just any variety of fish and items, and often pre bagged without waiting.

I will be visiting Taipei and Tokyo next month. I assume they also have similar fish marketss and appreciate if someone can pm me the addresses .

Water service must be really cheap in those areas.

Not necessarily about cheap water as it is about the turnover rates... that market is constantly busy and also contains quite a few distributors store i believe...

So there is a lot foot traffic, bikes and mini vans zipping around the place picking up stock and dropping it off...

Really is quite amazing the types of fish you’ll find in that place... even seen some seriously large rays there before although not sure what sp. they were...

I imagine turnover must be high to support them packing the fish so tightly in those tanks but I was also already under the impression that most shops there did massive water changes on an almost daily basis.

Every time I go to Bangkok for business of course I have to stop at the famous Chatuchak Aquarium market -- it's billed as the world's largest aquarium market, with an insane amount of fish, accessories and supplies at awesome prices. That said I don't know if it's really the largest, this one in Cory's video (or some other market in China) might be even larger. And overall, crowded as the tanks are, the Chinese market seems cleaner and better presented than Chatuchak.

In either case though yes, any of us living near those markets would be spending a lot of money, once there you feel like a kid in a candy store. I often get some strange looks about my carry-on when flying back to the island.

Maybe certain tanks will get daily or every other day water changes, but for the most part i think they normally do water changes maybe every 4-7 days apart... coz they normally a lot of bio filtration on their tanks...
