Update on Ferno the red Oscar

Well what ever he is keep us updated. Cute little thing. I want to see what happens with that blue/green on his face.
I’ll keep posting updates definitely will be interesting to see how his colors change as he matures kinda hoping that blue tint stays

Ferno is doing great! Starting to put on some size and bulk, he seems to be a bottomless pit eating anything and everything. He is loving being in the 125 gallon, always active swimming around and likes to hunt for food around the big piece of floating drift wood I have in the tank. Anyone seen the blue color on his face and back on a Oscar before ? View attachment 1369610

Very pretty...almost looks iridescent. Will probably look completely different as an adult! How big is your O?

Thanks! And he’s about 3 inches right now maybe a little over
 
I remember reading an article about red O's being introduced in the 60s from wild specimens. They are a natural variant that still show a wide variety, from dull copper to bright orange. The chili red Os are selectively bred and have white heads with blazing red bodies.
