I could be wrong and am delving into unfamiliar waters but isnt that CITES listing really out of date ? Most countries do allow them to be exported as long as they meet the cb breeding requirements.I believe because of their CITES listing, any that were present at the time could stay until they passed. That's that.

Here's the link to the story, it's from one of the more sensible newspapers so doesn't show the more bizzare aspects of the story but gives a good overview of the authorities attitudes to this sort of thing and the lengths people go through to try to sneak the fish in.
They are still very much gone in the wild, but yes most countries are reasonable since any tagged aro would come from a farm.I could be wrong and am delving into unfamiliar waters but isnt that CITES listing really out of date ? Thx for sharing that -- interesting that she only got sentenced to a nine-month community service order, apparently no jail time or fine. Also interesting that the fine has doubled since then (2007), so perhaps they're much harder nowadays and he could do time. Also maybe they took into account she was doing it for herself and not selling on to others. If this guy was doing it just to make money it could go worse for him (esp. not being an Aussie national like that fish up the skirt lady).
It sounds as if tabloids are pretty popular there.
