I didnt bother watching the vid. I agree with the title though.

Well I guess we can agree to disagree then

Certainly. Had you been a member here 10 yrs ago you probably would have found more support for your personal fish keeping philosophy. Not with me, but with some of the younger fish keepers that hung around here back then. Nowadays I think that the vast majority here are more informed, more experienced, better educated, and not overly keen of the JDM ways of the world. Today I think the only real support that you're going to find with regards to keeping a 14" cichlid in 50 gallons of water is with the ass clowns of the forum.

I've always been wondering, there are so many people that have kept so many different species of fish....Were they all crammed in little tanks and they don't live long enough so the fish turn over is too fast? Or do people have so much space to keep so many large tanks? I've got a 240G pond right now and a few smaller tanks that take one full room....The variety of species I've kept is limited to the fingers on my two hands and I'd think I've kept fish longer than the average fish keeper on here...

And then there are so many experts that know it all. Try to get a guppy to live 5 years first before you cram an Oscar in bucket of water, and then I may change my mind on the majority of fish keepers "experience".

I can never wrap my head around oscars being labeled as good beginner fish.

You do realize the guy said he doesnt recommend it. He made it work not the end of the world

"I've seen it work before and it will work in most cases unless you have a very large oscar. I've seen them upwards of 18 inches, but I had one in a 55 and he hit 14 inches and was fine, it wasn't ideal, but it still did work. That's why I said a 55 gallon will work, but a 90 would be perfect. A lot of sources say 55 is minimum, though I would say 75"

Frank, I think you would defend someone that said a sh** sandwich tasted good, just because I said that I'm pretty sure it wouldn't. I know exactly what he said - see above. And I never said that it was the end of the world, either.
