I’ve got a couple Amphs at about 14” around 6 years old. I find chanchos to be one of the slowest growing Amphs. I have one at about 12 to 13” but defiantly meets the name chancho ( pig )Well I have a 12” Chancho in there - if I can get him back to fully healthy, he probably has the best chance of hitting the 15” mark. GuapoteMel on YouTube (known for his giant Dovii) had a monster Chancho in his 1000 gallon tank that had to be 16” plus. No Amph I have ever seen has even come close.
Thanks - my 300 Male Amphs tank is nothing like yours, but I’m working on it - maybe in 2-3 years...Beautiful Midas!
I’ve found they appreciate a bigger tank than the other Amphs - the others take off in a small tank but my Chanchos really took off when they got in a bigger tank while they grew slow in smaller tanksI’ve got a couple Amphs at about 14” around 6 years old. That chanco was the best. I have a Rapps bared Midas at 7 inch now. I called him “Chancho” after that specific fish. It’s been in a few of his videos but loved the one where he stole the show from the umbees.... I haven’t seen another chancho in a video anywhere near that cool.Well I have a 12” Chancho in there - if I can get him back to fully healthy, he probably has the best chance of hitting the 15” mark. Didn’t do much for mine. He’s been in a 375 gal most his life. I’ve got several friends on Facebook groups that have had the same experience. Some claim it has to do with the chanchos from COA. So I just got two from ken Davis that are descendants from chanchos that William heijns imported. Will see if they are any different. Maybe you got one that will be a monster like Mel’s was.I’ve found they appreciate a bigger tank than the other Amphs - the others take off in a small tank but my Chanchos really took off when they got in a bigger tank while they grew slow in smaller tanks
