Oscars and South American Catfish

Not to spoil the thread, but why not a pleco instead of a catfish?
That's sort of my backup plan :) I like predators, and have always had a soft spot for all catfish, so I figured I'd try my luck and see if anybody had ideas I hadn't thought of.

I have oscars and they sort of like roaming all over the tank and digging gravel sometimes looking for food. Not saying there would be a problem with a catfish but not sure the oscars would really "like it".
Plecos on the other hand are not a problem. The oscars like to look at the pleco and sometimes bump into it but never any problem.

Unless the fish is wild caught, it doesn't really matter. Had a few back in my 125 with my cichlids.
They are cb nowadays.

I was looking at a striped Raphael Catfish, from what I hear you many never see him though. Nice smaller catfish but big enough not to be eaten.

They are nocturnal from what I read. Also, you wouldn't want these stuck in the mouth of a large cichlid. Otherwise they sound interesting.

I really dig the royal pleco and the sailfin pleco. Lots of personality, and the royal in particular has a striking appearance. It stays just a little smaller than the sailfin. My Oscars are homies with Grump, their resident sailfin. She's a character and comes up to me grubbing for food. She protects her precious wafers by jumping on top of them before the Os can steal them. If they get too pushy, a swift smack from her tail is enough to set them straight. Otherwise she happily hangs out with them and there are no problems. Grump is awesome. The royals are a bit shyer but they have beautiful red eyes and their markings really stand out.

Plecos are heavy wasters like most other cats, but they really do add character.

I have no idea what cb stands for, simply saying that most fish are farm raised. Like I stated before I have had these catfish with my cichlids before. I currently have a Black Shark at the moment in my cichlid tank as well.

captive bred

I liked my sun cat with my oscars, along with plecos, common or sale fins did a great job keeping glass and wood clean. but they do get sorta large so need a 145 or 180 for long term. The pleco,s slow growers but they keep growing. should mention the pleco poop in ropes so good vacuuming every week a must.
