How close is your nearest LFS?

No LFS. There have been several over the last 14 years, but they always close down. My fish have the potential to live 30+ years, so I don't need fish. Online shopping for big tank, Ultima II 4000s, 120W UV sterilizers, ReeFlo pumps, 1000W heaters, fish food and everything else fish related. Have no need for LFS. I buy cat litter at Walmart 15 min away. There is a feed store 15 minutes away I can buy a replacement pump from if the pump in my wet/dry filter quits.

Closest one near me is about 20min. Typical stock but does surprise on occasion. Great stock on plants.

When I was in NJ there were a ton of them. And some were pretty good. My favorite was absolutely fish in Clifton.
In DC, there are none. Just petcos. There ius one in silver spring which is "meh" at best, another out in Rockville which is even worse. The Petco is probably better out here tbh. Pretty disappointing.

All I have is “Neptune’s Reef” which was mainly a saltwater store but had some freshwater too. They had an ok plant selection and an ok freshwater selection as well. Nothing to brag about but they were high quality which showed in the prices. They moved to a larger store and just never recovered, they moved several months ago and I was told after several months of waiting that they would have been open either in august or october. That date has long since passed and they’re still not up to where they were. They only have a few saltwater tanks set up and as far as I can tell they’re barely surviving by going off of tank maintenance they do for their customers. It’s a real shame, they had something great going and they tried to go to fast to soon. I can easily see this being the death of them.
Anyway, besides them, I have a petco and petsmart near me. The petsmart just gets the same boring stuff in while the petco gets the occasional interesting stuff in. Blue panaque plecos (the ones that grow to like 5 inches). Hump head glass fish. Fire eels. Other stuff but I can’t remember.
I mainly stick to online shopping at this point.

To put things in perspective , some of you may have heard of Ocean Free products, a subsidiary of Qianhu.

It is like 40mins drive away but I find it too far so I have never been there

Below a short video tour of the Qian Hu fish farm

I was thinking about that myself lol.I decided I might as well include it as I have reluctantly bought my fair share of fish and supplies from there. These days I mostly buy dog food from Petsmart since the Walmart at the other end of the strip does not carry the brand that I get.

Sure Petsmart is countable, as I'm mostly referring to places where we can get basic supplies, say you ran out of air tubing, needed some foam or a medicine you didn't have. Not sure if I'd buy fish there but frankly I'd love to have a decent Petsmart or the like here. I reckon Duanes wouldn't mind it either, that's an epic little journey he has to make.
