How close is your nearest LFS?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
There are four of both Petsmart and Petcos in my city. Counting Portland, Or. just across the river it jumps up to twelve each.
Not sure how many "LFS" are in my area as I am 30 minute drive, depending on traffic, away from The Wet Spot so that is my "LFS" that I use to get all my fish save orders from TUIC, and COTA.
I have ordered a few fish from The Wet Spot.I would love to see the place in person but I don't forsee getting out that way anytime soon.

It's a fish heaven!
It has two sides, both sides has five rows of tanks. Left is cichlids, odds and ends, big fish. Right is all the smalls, dwarf cichlids. They also have an off-site warehouse full of fish.

I am jealous of you because of that jexnell, I would love to have the wet spot near me.

My nearest LFS is a 30 minute (10 mile) Pacific Ocean ferry ride, then another 30 minute cab ride. The other two LFSs are another 30 minute cab ride further.

In between a normal 4 hour wait for the return ferry.
If I buy a 6ft tank, the cargo charge of a truck, loader guys, and private boat back (the ferry won't take a tank), ranges between $200 and $300 over the top of tank cost.
Living on an island paradise has its minor drawbacks.
Luckily I get fish from guys who net them out of the river, and deliver a bucket load to the ferry dock, so if its planned right, there's only a few minutes wait between ferries if all goes well.

But I really won't know what the fish are, until get them home and put put them in the tank.
I haven't been disappointed yet, and it's all been an interesting surprise, and rather exciting to see what turns up.

next time you make the trip to an LFS, I'd be interested to see video or pictures of what a Panamanian LFS is like!

It sounds like That Fish Place that we have here in eastern Pennsylvania.
