Hi I need advice I would like to move a 14" clown knife into a tank with a 2ft giant goramy. Will try it on a day when I am off. If it is not an awful idea how should I go about it ?The only fish in with the giant goramy is a sail fin pleco, its only 8" long and he is not bothered by it.

I'd wait until the knife fish gets a little bit bigger, then WATCH THEM for a few days once you introduce them to each other. Giant gouramis can be huge brutes, and they know how to throw their weight around, so honestly, I wouldn't mix them, but in the end it's your call.

If your tank deep enough to give a space between surface and bottom, they'll be fine.

GG don't usually goes down as I known so far, except you always made him dive for food.

It's a bad idea. Giant gouramis can get very aggressive, especially as they get older.
+1
My GG is a thug, and has killed many tank mates. I've witnessed my GG attacked bottom dwellers as well. It's only tank mate now is a 13" mottled bullhead cat. It still occasionally have teeth scratches on it's body. It's only protection are large boulders in the tank, it can hide around/between.

If you grew the CK and GG up together, there would likely be no problem; however, given that the GG is already at adult size, it will likely kill the CK and any other large tankmate additions to its territory at this point.

Not true. I grew mine from about 3", in a community tank. As it matured and gained size, it became more and more aggressive towards tank mates that it had grown up with.

My giant gourami wouldn't tolerate any fish even close to its size. It would leave smaller fish alone completely. I put a big jade goby in there once and the GG lines it up, bull rushed it and smashed it within seconds.

It depends on tank size. My last clown knife was really skiddish and I doubt would work in close proximity to a gg
