What is the growth rate of your senegal bichirs? There’s always tons of them around 2-3 inches at my lfs and finally i have a well cycled tank for them.I would also like to keep it with a 3-4 inch spotted gar from the same lfs and i want them to go into my 250g with all of my other fish very soon.

TIA

Could you list all of the fish in the 250 gallon. Also is the Gar a true Gar and not a Characin. If you have a true spotted gar I suggest not adding Senegal Bichir with the Gar. Larger uj or larger lj species would be better tankmates.

1 inch per month till about 6-8in and then slows down.

Would avoid the spotted gars in the lepisosteus family. They grow quick and make a meal out of the Senegalus. Can try larger lower jaw polys with the gar if it’s a spotted.

Hello,i have a rtc, barramundi, giant gourami and a kelberi peacock bass in the 250g but none of them has reached 10 inches yet i hope im not overcrowding them just yet :) definitely need to upgrade soon tho

+1 would not add a small CB senegal with a gar or RTC, especially if your senegal is one of your favorite fish.

A big senegal, like a Lake Turkana sen might be okay, but I don't have any experience with them personally. Other members might be able to chime in. As kno4te kno4te and tlindsey tlindsey mentioned, Lower jaws might be better.

Got my Senegal in December 18 at around 1.5"-2". He is right at 7" now.
