Asian arowana

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
What i mean is the money behind the industry would drive them to pull in wild strains.
So i guess they do have a reason to have them banned for conservation.

asian mafia or western mafia? I don't think asians are the ones banning the import of AA to western countries?

Whats the policy?

I would guess he’s talking about AA being on the CITES list and the US Gov’t not wanting to update the import laws allowing farmed and chipped AA into the country???

Bingo. There is a system in place to meet the demands for CITES and ensure fish being sold are F2+ captive bred yet the US laws don't allow for it. The ironic thing is that the captive breeding for the aquarium hobby is what (potentially) saves species like these from disappearing all together, so by trying to prohibition it instead of encouraging it is in some way the very opposite of conservation.
