I'd like to get some red humps to shift and clean through sand... I know they get a decent size but would my rtgg or gar kill it? My gar is only 10 inch right now and my gourami doesnt bother anything on the bottom of tank

Once had a Florida Gar that had Geophagus for tankmates didn't bother them. I've read that Redtail Giant Gourami are aggressive so that's who I would be worried about.

I was more worried about the gar as hes a newer addition and havnt experienced them before.... the rtgg is somewhat aggressive... more for show than anything though... but he never bothers bottom dwellers... I just dont know if the geos are purely bottom dweller or not

They will sift through the substrate most of the time but will swim around mid water level as well.

I kept red hump Geo's (steindachneri, pellegrini)and am try to get a hold of crassilabrus now.
I never found them to be aggressive with any other fish, except their own kind (other Geophagines), the males were ruthless, with any non-coopretive females, and other males. Unlike their cousins east of the Andes.

The gar and RTGG most likely wont work.. the gourami just nips at things from time to time and the gar is to stiff to turn around so it will dart into the glass. As they get bigger they get worse. It wont bother small cichlids in my experience though.
The gar and rtgg have been good... but I will keep an eye on it... if I need to rehome gar I will
