Jewels are african. Most people try to stay same continent at least. Convicts are rough and tough. Thats really the main reason. Females are quite pretty also. As for bottom dwellers, maybe a small group of pictus or a larger syno cat.
True, what other tough fish in similar size to the Convicts would you recommend? Probably will do the Convicts for sure and maybe a few others if you could recommend any. !Jewels are african. Cichlid wise that really should be it. Maybe a pleco?
potential problem with that would be the heterospilus looking similar enough to the synspilum to piss it off. Or synspilum just wanting the tank to itself, they get huge eventually. Hard to advise on mixing vieja species in a tank this size, it's going to be luck, then trial and error, if you go that route. On the Oscar, I'd leave it out personally, and keep the tank CA fishMaybe a couple heterospilus and 1 synaplium might work. Perhaps an Oscar too?
What other fish do you think fit well? I will def get some Convicts
