Starting a 200 gallon aquarium Vieja/Peratharaps aquarium

If you go 1 vieja, 6 convicts, and a couple pictus it will have plenty going on. Convicts are pretty active. My females beg at the glass even.

Wouldn’t the 6 Convicts beat the crap out of the one? There tough little guys. Are the Ampiphilophus family similar to the Veija in temperament?

The convicts should be busy breeding or squabbling amongst themselves most of the time. Ive never looked into amphs much but seeing as how often theyre someones solo wet pet its fair to say theyre a bit more than cranky

So 4 Convicts, 2 Heterospilus and maybe one Synsplium or breidhori. Two or 3 bottom feeders. Yay or nay?

You don't need bottom feeders or SD's. The convicts and vieja-types will eat anything from the bottom. Make sure you end up with an all female or all male cichlid group otherwise a breeding pair will make it hell for the other cichlids.
