Im considering on getting a 3inch flagtail barb to go with my 3inch indo tiger datnoid.Any specific tips for flagtail barb care?
Questions:
-Can i feed it high in meat diet
-will it be able to stay in a 4x1.5ft tank for life
-Are they hardy fish and will they get bullied by the datnoid or will the flagtail bully my datnoid?

Will this work or will it be a fail.I currently have the datnoid in a just cycled 4x1.5 tank alone but looking to add atleast 4-5 other fishes...

TIA

They can't live on a meat diethttps://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/threads/flagtail-care.568834/

Flagtail barb??? As in flagtail prochilodus? If so, you need a bigger tank long term and no, a diet high in meat is definitely not a good idea for this fish.

I think we should ask J jprp

Flag tail Prochilodus is a part of the tetra group, not a barb, from the soft South American waters of the Amazon (low pH, low mineral content, tannins would help).
It is a generalist herbavore, and can reach at least 14", so your tank will be too small in the end.
High in meat diet wouldn't be good for its health.
Good tank mates for Datnoids would be other Asian species that prefer higher pH water (above 7 into the 8 range), something like a shoal of Spanner barbs would be a better choice than any soft water S American..

yes as was said flagtail prochilodus is mainly a vegetarian I have seen them at 16 inches they love algae and will clean the glass and ornaments like noother algae eater I had mine in a 125 with a large school of filament barbs he would school with them I heard they will go after a fish slime coat but never witnessed that
