Would like to see what people think of this ones species. Images are about a year old but fish hasn't changed, probably 7-9 inches?
Every time I try looking up spiny eels all the species seem to start showing up the same set of images so hoping for somIMAG0371.jpgIMAG0343.jpgething more concrete.

I don't think it's Guentheri, image search shows different colouration. Mine seems significantly darker to be this one.

Looks like a half banded eel. Let it settle in a bit.

Half Banded Eel is what I was thinking myself when I googled. Thanks for the confirmation.
Although its been in the tank 3 years now, not a recent addition.

Looks like macrognathus circumcinctus to me. I have an 8" one in my 55g. Those and the peacock eel are the most common spiny eels around me.

Heres a photo that's not 2 years out of date.

Very weird fish. It has decided after multiple years of being the most skittish annoying thing I've ever owned to the point of not eating food that isn't <1inch from its face for fear of leaving its hiding space to now roaming the tank and attacking my 2 Hoplo catfsh on site. Very confused by its 180 flip in behaviour, which is probably the only reason I was able to get this picture.
