Here is a poor picture of my latest pick up

I'm working on his tank at the moment. He will probably be the only fish and will be sharing his new tank with a few amano shrimps.
The set up will be a little different to what I have done before and will be based on a flooded pool in a bamboo forest.
I'll post pictures when the set up is complete.

Stan, is that a crowntail betta? What size tank will you keep him in?
I honestly couldn't tell you what kind of betta it is. I haven't kept a betta since I was a kid. I'm not at all up to date with the different names for different lines.

To be honest my 3 year old daughter always wants one everytime she comes along with me to the fish shops. This time a gave in and I brought this one home with us.
I have to admit, despite never considering getting one, I find it mesmerising. Such an elegant and responsive fish.
I have a little 18x12x12 that I'm in the middle of setting up for it. It will be a tempory home until I've created space for a 24 inch cube tank.
I will dedicate the smaller tank to shrimps from there on.

I posted up a thread today with some old betta pictures, and pictures of my inverted bottle aquariums. (Have a peek in the mini monster fish room.)

I have found that bettas just love to swim up into bottles, given the opportunity. They love to hang out in them, and I have posted several pictures of this.

I use these spherical Pom bottles, which magnify the size of the fish a lot.

It will be interesting to see what you come up with doing a scape on a smaller scale. Looking fwd to seeing the pics.

I set up a small solo beta tank for my wife, after 8 months in a heated, filtered planted little tank with a 70% weekly water change I'm surprised how big he has grown. Much larger than you normally see and very interactive too. Still trying to teach my wife about overfeeding though......
