I recently found a "brand new" acrylic aquarium for sale that has some crazing on it. Had never been set up and was being sold as they are moving due to a promotion at work.Crazing.jpg (Pallet straps?) Should I be concerned with this or go ahead with the purchase?

What was their explanation for why the crazing exists on a new tank? Is a manufacturing issue? Is it being offered at a discount? That's what i would consider. Crazing in my experience is nothing that you can get rid of. Once it's there, it's there for the life of the acrylic. You would have to ask yourself if you can live with it.

She said she thought it was from where it had been strapped to the pallet. This would be my first acrylic tank. I can get it for $500. I just wanted to be sure that there is nothing wrong with the tank structurally. My concern is that there may be more crazing that will happen once I fill the tank with water. Is this something I should be concerned about?

I bought a Clear-for-life last year. It was custom made to my dimensions.

It had a little crazing here and there where they over glued, then buffed it.

It's not too noticeable and no strength issues where it exists, but they are not perfect tanks IME.

So the crazing is not an issue with tank integrity then? I thought I would ask people with some experience because my wife would kill me if the tank burst and ruined our new floors.

Crazing has nothing to do with structure 90% of acrylic tanks in public aquariums are crazed and are 100% fine its 100% cosmetic and asthetics

Go check out the balouga whale tank at mystic aquarium its so crazed ypu have to take a few steps back to get clarity, uts from the sun pounding it for hours on end

Awesome! I really appreciate everyone's responses. I am going to email the seller now and make arrangements to go pick it up. I may make a canopy that overhangs just enough to cover the crazing since it is right at the top.
