I am getting a 180 gallon 96Lx24Wx24H tank. I'm needing heaters and was thinking of getting two smaller heaters so if one fails they don't cook or freeze my fish. What strength heater do you recommend if I put two in the tank? I would think I would put one on each end? The room temp is about 68 all the time and I need the water to be 75-80. I've heard ehiem is good.

dont know if your measurements are off but 96 x 24 x 24 is 240 gallon tank thats a big difference when heating water is the tank 180 or 240?

i got 1 of these to try for my new tank. i am going to run through the controller that i linked it is WiFi so i can check the temp of my tank anywhere and it was only $50. looked like a good price

Most heaters from major companies should be fine. Most have been to be replaced now. Eheim has a good option but I’d pass on the trutemp. Have been complaints about the dial and i have the same issue but figured it out. I’d do two 300watt heaters.

Yes my bad. It would be a 240, but I wouldn't be filling it up the entire way. Hoping for 160-180 in weight.

ok yea check the links out i think they are a good price for what you get. but do you know that the tank will only be at 16-18 inch water height for 160-180 gallon? is it the weight or do you have some special requirements for fish that you need to put it that low?

It's a weight issue. I'm going to be moving into an apartment and when I do move, I need to keep the water lower so I don't break the joists.

And 1000watts? Is that not too much? Like 2 of them? I was reading a lot of people using a single 300 watt or 2 250's or something like that.

Would two 300 watt ones heat the water from 75-80 in the 96Lx24Wx24H?
