I've heard African butterfly fish can be territorial towards eachother unless enough space is provided.
May be an idea to consider that, you could drop to 1 of those and free some bioload for your bichirs.

On the butterfly fish thing, I had 3 in my 180 and the biggest one started going out of his way to pester the other 2 enough so they started jumping.

Ropes need friends 3+.
Agree if only a single poly id go sen instead or polli.
Ctenopoma are easy. Can be territorial to other larger fish, including other ctenopoma.

I also think 8-10 congos would be good. And unless you are buying them grown need a head start on the ctenopoma. My cteno got to about 5" in the first year. My congos barely hit 3 in that time. If they had been together id guess id have lost some to the cteno.

My 55 african biotope has 2m/6f congo tetras, 3 buffalo head cichlids, 1 upside down cat and a single ctenopoma. It's a really nice tank. I'm thinking of getting 2 more ctenopoma atleast until they get some size, it's about 1.5" and a few more synos.

I would do atleast 3 ctenopoma, that will keep any aggression spread around instead of concentrated on one fish.

I just looked at a aqadvisor and this was 98%

3 ctenopoma
1 senegal bichir
1 african butterfly fish
12 congo tetras
1 brown knife fish

I am also worried that I am not going to find these fish because I live in canada and my lps doesn't have uncommon fish
