Im considering replacing the black sand in my tank to white sand, but im worried the end result may not be worth the effort. My wife likes the black sand look, but i feel it darkens my tank too much.

Hoping members could provide me pics of your current set up to help make up my mind.

My current set up is a 340g in wall window view tank.
Current stock:
- 2 x motoro rays
- 5 x XL silver dollars
- spotted gar
- male JD

I would go with some white sand if i would go with sand at all. My tanks eith rays are barebottom atm. The current 3200L tank im working on will have 75kg of pure white sand and 25kg of crushed coralsand.

Garnet sand looks the best IMO.

I've never heard of garnet sand before, but doing a quick google search it's used for sandblasting?

Castexi, going of the photos on google the garnet sand looks really bright red, but in your pic it doesn't look so bright red. I like the look of it in your pic and makes your ray stand out. Any chance you can post more pics?

Nice!!! What size grit do use or reccomend?

I personally run 200 gallon tanks as sumps for my displays, which I also run the sand in.. So I like to keep the largest/heaviest grit I could find. I don't remember the exact measurement, just that it was the largest I could find. It's very heavy and doesn't create huge clouds which was a necessity for me.
