i like elodea because they are hardy and grow fast, but honestly speaking they rarely look good. They will grow roots and new stems from their side and will then look untidy.

Nice aquascape, I haven’t seen many who use moss balls for aquascape+make their tank look stunning with it.
Are those platies? They must be having a good time in so much space.
They are indeed. Living in platy paradise at the moment lol!! They are however cycling the tank for me.
I picked up 6 of these blue wagtails, fully expecting to give them back once it's cycled.... But I've grown to really like them!!
awesome tank.. love the way the rocks stand out in the otherwise dark substrate and the black wallpaper.
I like planted tanks but in this case I would get rid of the elodea but possibly keep the moss. I think it's a striking design with the rocks and black sand and the elodea would detract from it. Maybe a few more rocks could look good but it looks cool as it is.
Dang. Keep coming back to this thread. I can’t wait to see what you put in there. And if you don’t mind my next tank may try to replicate this one Love it for its simplicity.

Having given it another days reflection... and I still agree entirely. Will be removing the elodea! Will also contemplate a few more rocks too. Thanks for the nice comments
Thanks mate. I wouldn't mind at all - in fact I would be flattered if you built on my design for yourself. The sides aren't painted black - just the back. It's black chalk board paint which I've found gives a nice deep matt finish which I prefer compared to the shiney gloss look.
