I knew I’d be ending this thread, just not like this.
Jade has been disappointing both color and growth wise the past year. She’s either dark or washed out looking. Never very vibrant. Her silver seams have always been very thin and she hasn’t grown at all in the past year. She stopped growing at 5”. Even with months of being kept away from any males she didn’t put on any size. Just her genetics I suppose.
My plan was to sell her after the holiday season when I had more time.
Sadly she died last night. I’m not a 100% positive on what happened, but due to bruising one both of her sides I can kinda guess. I did water changes yesterday and she has been guarding a group of fry. She has been hyper aggressive, maybe because it’s been so long since she’s had fry to care for? Not sure. But the male must have had enough of her attitude and rammed her or something of that sort:/

A fish store run sounds awesome right about now, but I’m on orders to not get anymore fish till my tanks are moved into the basement/fish room.
This is the first time I’ve been told “no more”.
Maybe it’s because new fish normally mean a quarantine tank popping up on the kitchen counter ?
Or it could be from the frustration that I have two 6ft tanks that have been sitting on a trailer taking up space for months?
*sigh*
Sorry to hear about the loss. I sometimes say fishkeeping is not always for the faint of heart.
I guess I'm fortunate, my wife is always open to more fish, typically I'm the one considering tank space, fish budget, etc.
Where did you get these Gt from ? Very nice ?It’s been a while since I updated Jades thread.
She has been great. Slow growing, but expected for a spawning female. Maybe between 4 1/2”-5”.
She spawned again yesterday and has a big attitude towards the 5 fry still in the tank. Looks like I might end up with babies all over again.
