So I've changed my tank around a million times and realized the 1 or 2 large aggressive cichlid isn't for me. Thanks to Rocksor's advice Ive settled on this Stocking.

5x Satanoperca liliths
3x red head tapajos
8x columbian tetras
1x starlight bristle nose
1x calico bristle nose

Just now i was wondering why they all hang in the corner unless when im feeding. On a whim i finally decided to lower fx6 outflow and the activity from everyone in the tank skyrocketed.

Question. Around what size will liliths color up?

Great looking tank, not a huge fan of how earth eaters look but always love to watch them at work. As for the size they color up I'm not quite certain but I would imagine it would be like most around 6-8 inches. Honestly never had any earth eater but I usually see them starting to color up around then. I personally would like to get a few geophagus pellegrini but I can never find them in stock. O also where did ya get the starlight bristlenose? I almost never see them being sold either.

Thanks! Yeah for a long time I wasn't a fan of how they looked either, but I got tired of overly aggressive fish and the look just grew on me. I only ever get my fish from LFS. I have 2 within an hour of me the constantly stock rare american cichlids and fish.

Nice, wish I had a lfs that stocked rarer fish more often. Rarest things any of mine have had was a baby motoro stingray once and a fugu puffer. Other wise it's mainly your average community fish, bettas, and common cichlids. Lol anytime they sell geophagus they always label them earth eaters instead of a scientific name, so ya never really know what your getting.

Lilith tend to be late-ish bloomers. Expect them to start getting real showy after they hit ~8" or so. They truly are spectacular as adults and it's very cool to see someone dedicating a tank to them!

Thanks for the info! I have the opportunity to get 2 more to make a group of 7. Or do you think my group of 5 is plenty for a 180?

I'd say that its more of a matter of personal taste than anything. Adults don't really shoal much, once they pair up they tend to just hang out with their mate.
