Today in the Fishroom ~ Trichromis salvini

This particular strain are F1 fish from Tabasquilla, near the entrance to Centia Swamps. Like most salvini, the female is very beautifully colored. The male from this location have an extremely red coloration on the bottom. Unfortunately he spnds most of his time getting out of her way and didn't make the video...for now. Below is a photo of the male we collcected.




Nice middle sized cichlid with attitude. I have them in a 100 gallon tank along with some Neets...just to give them something to hate.

Salvini are absolute kings and queens of aggression! Those wild caught salvini look amazing!!! That top pic is really a male? That is a huge black patch on the dorsal fin for a male isn't it???

Set up the lights properly for some additional photos. I was able to catch the male...finally...out in the open...sorta.

Seeing that male you can see why some people thought these and trimacs were related. Stunners.
