I'm sure I'll get flamed for this as I know many here swear by NLS fish food but I'm wondering if anyone else has had the same experience as me.

I have tried a few of their products over the last few years (veggie formulas, cichlid, algae max etc) and while the ingredients seem to be of top quality I've never had a fish that went crazy for it. In fact I've had more fish refuse eating it than any other brand.

I just finished my last bottle after almost 7 months and I honestly don't think I'll get it again.

So far I've had better luck with bug bytes, omega one pellets and the northfin.

I'm mostly keeping datnoids these days and thankfully they all accept NLS and Northfin pellets.I usually rotate the food brands and it has been a while since I have run out of Massavore and I think my two peacock bass and afer knife fish have not eaten a thing since.
They totally ignore the NLS and Northfin.

Only thing I gathered from your post is that fish didn't get cray over it. That doesn't mean much, if fish go crazy (like they do for bloodworms) or not doesn't imply nutrition or long term health and looks. Most fish refuse new/different food than what they are used to. You have to starve them a little to accept new food. Omega one foods have lots of fillers and use pea protein, I would prefer to not feed non aquatic matter to fish. TMO Northfin makes good food too.

Yes and no. I meant that many of my fish would refuse to eat it - even on an constant established basis , and would mainly eat it because it was the only thing available. I have only been able to feed it by starving them.

Now I do agree it is a superior food without many fillers. I would much rather them accept it like the other types of food. But they dont.

The main issue at hand, for me at least, is that most of it goes uneaten and just sits in the tank until I have to take it out or it goes bad. And if I try to mix it up with other foods for a more balanced diet, it tends to be ignored completely as the fish are not starving.

It's a bit of a toss up.

I'm just trying to find something good that's more palatable to them I guess.

I would feed in sparingly (so that it won't go waste) and exclusively till fish eat it if I really want to get them to eat it.

You should be fine on northfin either way.

My clown loaches are not crazy about NLS thera A and its driving me nuts as some like bug bytes bites but not so about the bug bytes flake food. They ingore NLS alage wafers. But will argue over hikari wafers.

This is the same group that didnt care for Sera o-nips either. That was my go-to treat besides frozen bloodworms and brine shrimps. So going to pick up some replashy this weekend to see if I can get different varieties for loaches, plecos and clouded archers which is my main characters in the tanks. My clouded archerfish group ONLY will eat freeze dried mealworms and bloodworms as only one will taste different food while others ingore the NLS thera pellets completely before it sinks down. Its not nutritious to be feeding that only. I want them to have more varied diet for their growth.

Everyone else the barbs, tetras, cories have been hitting everything i put in the tank that others ingore. They dont care. Lol.

NLS ingredients are really good. This is why i wanted to feed them that brand as main food source. But am seriously now looking into replashy as another main source of food. I want my clown loaches to have good growth and feed them good stuff so I can have them around for years!

Humans go crazy over bacon cheeseburgers, buffalo wings, and meat lovers pizzas, but it doesn't mean it's good for us.
Radicchio and brussel sprouts are super good for you. So, how many pounds of those would you like to eat each day, ever day?

Pellets like New life spectrum already include varied diet, it you feed 10 different brands with same ingredient it's not a variation. Feeding NLS exclusively is enough varied.

I do not want to stick with only NLS. It does not truly replicate what fish have in the wild IMO. Where the heck are the worms as an ingredient? What about bugs? I have not seen all of the NLS food line but what I have seen is missing my two protein I want to see in a product to feed my fish. I want to try to find other products to fill in that void I feel is there.

Im not so crazy about lack of worms in the list or bugs in many of the other products that has those two have soy and wheat so frustrating yet NLS I can feel better feeding them what is best available out there though.

What is farmable and harvestable on a massive scale is going into the food. Its what it is. NLS is one of the food brands I trust to make that best collection out of what can be made into a constant stream of product.

yet my centerpiece fish groups will not touch them at times ?

And I am not so crazy about feeding fish any fish proteins as a main ingredient, for alot of fish species I currently have it just does not fit in their daily diet intake in the wild either.
