Catfish for a central american tank?

Stanzzzz7 Stanzzzz7 I think you are probably right. I already tried dither fish with all my CA cichlids when they were all very small and less than 4". The dithers always end up gone before 24 hours in the tank. I do have a male convict and I am picking up a female very soon. I like convicts and have kept them before but the other reason I wanted a convict pair was to provide feeder fish. I think I will try some convicts in the 300 tank. My male convict is doing very good in my 150 gallon tank with 2 jags, Texas and a JD. The jag thats going in the 300 is bigger than the other two jags with the convict but the convicts will have more room and hiding spots in the 300. The convicts are for food anyway so if they get picked off no problem and if a few make it and have babies then I will just make sure the convict population is being controlled enough thru predation.

I think whatever you try cohabiting with a jag, there will always be a certain amount of risk. No scenario will be full proof. I do think a few Convicts will probably be your best chance of a workable solution.
Good luck.
