Male Socolofi are a more vibrant powder blue color w/ black edging on the fins. Some have egg spots on the anal fin. Here's a pic of one of my young adult male Socolofi.

i read somewhere that stressing the female could cause her to either eat or apit the eggs, is there a way to do it without causing her too much harm?

I think you have a pair. The smaller one with black edging on fins, "Male". The bigger one "Female".

The only prevention is a all male Mbuna aquarium.

Both male and female should have black edgings on their fins, no visual differences. Your larger one looks more like Metriaclima callainos, I dont see any black on its fins.
