My Amphilophus Hogaboomorum journal

Jexnell Jexnell , No promises here but I do have another Hoga... I say that because if something bad happens and I need to rehome one or both quickly, it will go down to the local fish store or be given to another fishkeeper. Im noticing aggression from the amphs a bit more as they mature so it may become an issue.

At the moment Im still trying to see if I have a male in the 300. Im pretty sure the former dominant one in the 75 is male but the current one is still in question. Though it is coloring up nicely.

Likely this one is the one that would be available.

I still need time to see how my Hoga in the 300 turns out but there is still a possible Hoga for you. I know I wont be your way for months so that is another thing to think about.

We will stay in contact on this.

I've been messaging with DMD123 DMD123 about possibly rehoming his remaining Hoga to my 220g SD aquarium. The current residence are 13 SD sp, 5 corys, and 2 flag tail porthole. Would this work?

During the short time I had mine he didn't bother anyone else. But was only a couple weeks and really wasn't settled in yet, long term i have no experience with Hogas.

My worry is that it would be come the most horrible beast you have ever seen and completely destroy the fish for which the tank was intended. I've never kept big CA so is very tempting.

If it don't work out you could grab a 75 on sale to solo home him and use eggcrate separator till you set it up.

I would empty the 90g inhabs to the 220 until I could rehome.

Hey fishguy1978 fishguy1978 , I sent you a PM on Fishbox with my info. I find most of the amphilophus are pretty easy going if kept in big tanks like your 220 with silver dollars and no other cichlids. Most of the trouble seems to occer when trying to keep more than one cichlid.
