Fighting or Breeding behaviour Electric Blue Acaras

That's awesome! From 150 babies I raised these were the only ones I kept, I was afraid I wouldn't have a pair.

Looks like the sev wants to join in! Maybe you’ll even get the sd to breed, with all the hormones being released.

The big old freckles is always cockbloking, having fish breeding on the tank trigger others to breed too?

That would be awesome, despite the fact I have no idea what to do to save the eggs, the geos are gonna munch all of them ?

Now that you said it, I realise the sev and SD are always following them on the video!

But do you think they can breed at this size the Sev and the SD are around 5 to 7cm

For breeding the SDs, if you can get them to spawn in moss or shorter bushy plants, you could try the breeding container method....

Use a margarine container with a DIY screen top. Weigh the container down with a rock or something inside. Plant the stems on top the screen. Hopefully the SDs will scatter some eggs in the stems and the eggs will drop into the container though the screen. Then just collect the hatched fry and transfer them to a growout tank. Some tetra eggs need complete darkness for the first few days, so the container helps with this.

Btw, looks like courting behavior with the EB acara to me as well!

I have some plastic shallow trays I could use, but the plants will be a little hard I could put some green net bags that come with onions inside, because any plant I put the Sevs are gonna destroy.

But I have a question, are they already sexually mature at 5-7 cm? ?

Oh didn't realize severums eat plants so much! Or some kind of material that resembles or mimics plant stems? Like maybe artificial plant mass would work? It's just to get a good place for the SDs to scatter.

I like the tray idea. I mean why not try to raise them? If the project works, seems simple enough. The fry could escape the onion netting, but with something on top like a mop or artificial plant, hopefully they will stay where it's nice and safe :)
