This just in - eggs. Female. Picture is loading a bit grainy but they are definitely there and she’s not leaving/defending the hide.

Have to admit, pretty disappointed in the well regarded vendor. He doesn’t make guarantees, that is understood... but I said I was looking for a male and he said “No problem, these fish are easy to sex at this size.”

Obviously still a great fish but not what i was going for. Sure that’s relatable for many of you. May shuffle her into a community setting and swap my gold jag into the solo 125 for now since she’s going to stay a bit smaller than the male i had planned for. She’s got plenty of attitude, that’s for sure!

A pretty bada*s looking female if you ask me. Seems to have some character and nice nuchal hump to work on too. Still could be a good candidate for solo 125.

Classic example of why one can't get fooled by a nuchal hump. Damn nice looking female, but sucks that the vendor couldn't sex a cit at that size.

Yes, i agree. Definitely a keeper, I think she may do ok with my oscar and chocolate cichlid. If she’s crazy in a community she’ll end up flying solo. May also see if COTA can send me one of his even larger Midas so it’s actually male and try to pair them. He has some 11”.

Seconded.
