Never really cared if its laying eggs or took any attention to look for that in the aquarium. Always thought it was a guy. I keep mine at 31°C.

31 is pretty hot. You can dial down to 27-28.

I have seen people keeping it higher than that, up to 90°F/32.22°C. Flowerhorn world is crazy, hyped food, hyped hump size and almost everything else.
