Stunted growth? Alligator gar

It’s been a while since I’ve been on here. Just realized my gar is about 11years old and he measures about 27-28inches. Shouldn’t he be bigger? Currently on my way to a different state to transfer him to our farm pond. Hope he makes the drive. :fingers crossed:

impressive lifespan for sure. what size tank was he in? and post pics, it may be a smaller species of gar
 
My first thought, Are you sure it’s a gator gar?
It is possible that it has been stunted or it could be a short body to begin with.

In my experience the gator I had grew 22 to 24 inches in the first year.

I had him in a 8L x 5W x 4H pond. I will take pictures of him in a couple of hours. First year And second year he grew quick after that he just got fatter.

looks like a gator to me. might just be stunted genetically either just naturally or from the farming hormones if it was farmed. I dont think its any fault of your own with the info given.
