You could *probably* get away with $4-5 in that tank, but only if it's a smaller species.

If you can get a 75 instead, your potential options explode. A used 75 is typically the exact same price as a used 55 if you're patient.
Oh wait for real!! Good thing i have the filters too

So question i liked this fish for a long while now so i was wondering if it can live in a 55 gallon or would it need bigger also its this fish Tiger Macana Knifefish

If you want the silver dollar look coulmbian tetras are a good option. The only get to 3" and are some what colorful.

I’m going to suggest getting a python water changer...it will change the game of fish keeping for you.

when I first started keeping fish (10+ years ago) I was always using jugs and buckets depending on the size of the tank. I found I wasn’t doing as many water changes as I should have been bc it’s messy and difficult to move jugs and buckets of water without making a mess on the floor. Ever since my python I can do water changes easily and with minimal spillage (if I don't Over flow a tank). I even use my python on my 5g betta tank haha takes like two minutes to do a water change on it.

the only thing I don’t like about my python is now it takes me more than an hour to drain and re-fill my 135g tank. The python is perfect for 90g tanks and smaller.

Yeah i always planned on getting also the way you worded it sounds like a commercial for the python lol no but yeah thats a good idea

Guys I think I may use my thirty as a quarantine before my mom uses it as a saltwater aquarium because i dont think my parents will let me have a 4 foot aquarium before we move to a bigger home so im set up my thirty gallon and ima start buying stuff for the 55 so by the time i move i just need to buy the tank so what do you guys think about that also im moving sometime in march maybe so the fish that will be in the thirty are gonna be fish that are supposed to live in a thrity gallon and then ima move them to the 55 in about a year.

A python really does help. It's also a great starting point for diy innovation, too.

Once I grew past a python, I ended up plumbing a T with ball valves into the plumbing of my canister filter. Being able to hook up a hose and then turn some valves to drain the tank with the filter's pump; followed by being able to turn the filter off, turn some valves again and fill it from that same hose was game changing.
